SAN FRANCISCO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Morf Media Inc., developer of the next generation social training delivery platform for the mobile workforce, announced today that Morf Media product designer and gamification expert, Yu-Kai Chou, is a keynote at the Gamification World Congress 2015 #GWC15 in Barcelona this week. He is also offering an advanced workshop at the conference based on his Octalysis Gamification Framework.
Chou commented: “In 2015, gamification has moved from ‘hype’ to ‘how’ among companies and Fortune 500’s. Instead of talking about how sexy gamification is, companies are finally ready to approve budgets to try more gamified efforts. However, many companies only add superficial ‘game elements,’ into their products without fully understanding the psychology behind why these game elements work. This leads to ‘fluffy’ design and poor performances that look game-like but aren’t engaging at all. I can show organizations a better way to design products that people not only enjoy, but want to use the product as much as possible.”
Chou will discuss his views for implementing better gamification designs that drive business metrics through his Octalysis Framework. With the Octalysis Framework, a gamification designer must not simply understand how to create desired behaviors, but also to design for the nature of that motivation – is it Black Hat or White Hat? Extrinsic or Intrinsic? Long Term Empowerment or Short Term Urgency?
He will focus on how to use the Octalysis Framework to design motivating experiences that bring out our Eight Core Drives to completely meet any business objective, whether it would be to train employees as in the Morf Media social training platform, close sales, motivate employees, create obsessive users, or motivate oneself towards good habits.
“Yu-Kai’s world-class Octalysis gamification framework deeply informs Morf Media’s next generation social training platform,” said Eduardo Cervantes, CEO of Morf Media Inc. “Organizations and companies in the life sciences, healthcare and financial services are seeing how training on a smart phone made easy, fast and fun is changing behavior and attitudes among their mobile workforces, customers and partners.”
